Tooth Coloured Fillings

Most adults have fillings of some sort or another in their mouths but many are turning to more natural looking versions that don’t show when they laugh or smile. We usually recommend only changing an amalgam (also called ‘silver filling’) when it needs replacing – but we do not use amalgam in this practice.

With some of the newer materials available to us, the life expectancy of your white filling can be comparable to an amalgam but the life expectancy can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite. We can advise you about how long your fillings should last.
